Jan Steinhauser

International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis
Jan Steinhauser works on integrated assessments of land-based negative emission technologies as well as agricultural policy and culture shifts. Steinhauser’s work focuses on establishing a new integrated assessment framework, coupling the MAgPIE land-use model and the MESSAGE energy systems model, and utilizing this framework for assessments of land-use and biodiversity impacts of bioenergy and BECSS, as well as other CDR technologies, such as enhanced weathering or biochar, or the impacts of microbial protein on the land and energy sectors.

This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the European Research Council (ERC) Grant Agreement No. 951542-GENIE-ERC-2020-SyG, “GeoEngineering and NegatIve Emissions pathways in Europe” (GENIE). Also, the project was approved by the Institutional Review Board at Aarhus University 2021-13
